A variety of topics are addressed by selected speakers at the monthly luncheons, with topics ranging far and wide from current events to the Lewis and Clark Expedition. We St. Louisans like our music too, and the traditional Christmas celebration is well attended. The Chapter ROTC Awards program encompasses 12 high school and 4 universities, with members present at some of the award ceremonies. The annual Veteran’s Day is observed by many of our members at a special luncheon of Military of the area. Currently members of the chapter are involved in a 'letters to your congressman' drive, voicing MOAA viewpoints on pending legislation. Please join the Chapter for luncheon on Feb.18th at Andre's Banquet Facilities. Mr. Brit Pim, who will speak on Coverage of health and pharmaceutical services, is V.P. and general manager for Medicare and Medicaid, Express scripts.

Legislative Issues

Legislative Issues are brought to member’s attention both as announcements by the legislative committee and as articles in our monthly Newsletter. An example of one of those articles follows: At one of our meetings, some comments were made about the purpose of The St. Louis Chapter. Reiterating,it is hoped that our purpose is more than just a pleasant luncheon at the St. Louis County Country club, where we meet once a month to renew old friendships and socialize, have a good meal and hear an interesting speaker. Of course, those things are valuable, and our board wants to continue and strengthen them. However, we also exist to form one powerful voice that is heard and heeded in the halls of congress and the administration. This year, as a new administration takes over it is critical that we keep our fingers on the pulse of what is going on in Washington -- legislation that is crucial to our Armed Forces, both active duty and retired. WE MUST LET THEM KNOW WHAT WE THINK. Call or write your representatives directly.Specific issues? Health Care, SBP/DIC, VA issues and more. Herman Son,Legislative Officer (We mark the passing of Lt. Col. Herman Son, USAF, Ret, on January 31, 2009 with deep sorrow. He will be missed.)
